Cardiology Groups Collaborating on Another Set of Hypertension Guidelines

Article

After just releasing new hypertension guidelines, the American Society of Hypertension (ASH) is now collaborating with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) on another set of guidelines expected to be out by the end of 2014 or early 2015.

The American Society of Hypertension (ASH), which recently released new hypertension guidelines with the International Society of Hypertension, is said to be collaborating with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) on another set of guidelines for hypertension that the organization expects to be out by the end of 2014 or early 2015.

According to a report in heartwire, reasons for another set of planned joint guidelines may be related to the controversy over the eighth Joint National Commission (JNC 8) guidelines, which were released in December 2013.

Furthermore, the JNC writing committee did note that they had not been unanimous in reaching their decision and suggested that further clinical trials would be needed to determine the best criteria for treatment threshold and initial treatment recommendations.
