The Los Angeles Times reports on a study indicating that Bisphenol A, a chemical comonly found in plastics, can increase testosterone levels in men. After analyzing urine samples from 715 subjects, researchers found that the average daily exposure to BPA was five micrograms and that the higher the daily exposure, the higher the total testosterone concentration. A recent Environmental Working Group-commissioned study found that BPA comprised as much as 3% of receipts by weight, though typical exposure is well under the EPA limit according to Judy Lakine and Daniel Naiman.
