Dr. Allan Stewart on the Possibility of OTC Statins

In this video, Allan Stewart, MD, assistant professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, discusses the challenges that would be introduced if statins such as Lipitor were to be made available over the counter. Among the problems would be lack of physician oversight and management in case of side effects, questionable adherence, and lack of reimbursement for the cost of the drugs by health insurance.
