William M. Tierney, MD, President and CEO of the Regenstrief Institute and a professor at Indiana University discussed how the field has changed in recent years. While electronic health records are becoming more common most are controlled by the healthcare systems with the patients having very little say in their availability. There is an effort underway to change that.
