Now that congenital heart disease has become manageable for many patients doctors are treating them longer and working to ensure a high quality of life moving forward.

Doreen deFaria Yeh, MD, from Massachusetts General Hospital said that while the goal has always been to see these patients live long, healthy lives, that goal is now attainable on a regular basis. Providing the care and guidance they need to see old age, she said, has made the work doctors do in the field that much more rewarding as well.
