When most people think of palliative care their first thought is likely to hospice and end of life oncology care, but experts in the field are working to change and expand that perception to other areas of health care as well.

When most people think of palliative care their first thought is likely to hospice and end of life oncology care, but experts in the field are working to change and expand that perception to other areas of health care as well.

Brooke Worster, MD, from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is one of those professionals and said it is important to see the bigger picture in palliative care instead of focusing solely on the end result. And while many palliative care patients are focused in oncology Worster said it can also apply to patients with other conditions. Worster said that can include heart failure, COPD, and alzheimer's disease.
