There are many factors which can contribute to a patient developing Alzheimer's which goes beyond proteins which may be found in the brain.

There are many factors which can contribute to a patient developing Alzheimer's which goes beyond proteins which may be found in the brain.

In addition to risk factors like the recently discovered proteins which can indicate an increased risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's Disease, Charles S. DeCarli, MD, from UC Davis Health System said there are other factors to consider as well. DeCarli said some of these factors are manage by patients and providers including hypertension and diabetes. While they may only be small contributing factors DeCarli said even a small change can make a difference in the overall prognosis for a patient.
