It can be easy for providers to be lost in numbers as they go through a busy day in the clinic. However, there is evidence to suggest that finding different ways to help patients beyond symptom management can do as much if not more to help improve quality of life overall.

It can be easy for providers to be lost in numbers as they go through a busy day in the clinic. However, there is evidence to suggest that finding different ways to help patients beyond symptom management can do as much if not more to help improve quality of life overall.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Assocation in New Orleans, Kimberly A. Driscoll, PhD, from the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes said having a visit focused on quality of life can be important in maintaining the overall health of patients in the long term. Driscoll called maintaining a high quality of life a "huge issue," because even as the artificial pancreas is developed there is considerably more work to be done.
