As more has been learned over the years about heart disease there is also a greater awareness of the impact it can have on women. Because of this increased awareness a greater effort is underway to help catch these conditions before they become fatal.

As more has been learned over the years about heart disease there is also a greater awareness of the impact it can have on women. Because of this increased awareness a greater effort is underway to help catch these conditions before they become fatal.

Jean Marie Cacciabaudo, MD, the Chief of Cardiology at Southside Hospital, part of the Northwell Health System, discussed how the diagnosis process has changed and what it has meant in particular to women in recent years. While risk factors are the same for men and women Cacciabaudo said the differences can be seen in signs and symptoms for women.
