As a result it is important for their health care providers to monitor their mental health and inquire about their ownership of firearms as a potential risk to themselves and others.

Patients with various forms of dementia, including alzheimer's disease face a variety of challenges in their daily lives including depression. As a result it is important for their health care providers to monitor their mental health and inquire about their ownership of firearms as a potential risk to themselves and others.

Working with the Montefiore Health System Jessica L. Zwerling, MD, said there are mechanisms in place to not only keep patients safe while dealing with this condition as well as protect the people around them.
