Patients diagnosed with cardiac conditions or having suffered cardiac events do so for a variety of reasons. A recent study looked at the impact of family history of heart attacks and what can be done to help prevent their patients from suffering similar events.

Sekar Kathiresan, MD, from Massachusetts General Hospital discussed this recent research during the American Heart Association's annual scientific sessions in Orlando. While he said genetic testing is not yet developed enough to answer these questions that could change in the near future, providing another diagnostic tool for doctors.
