Levothyroxine, the leading treatmet for hypothyroidism, can help many people but doctors also need to consider other potential issues that need to be addressed as well. Antonio C. Bianco, MD, PhD, from Rush University Medical Center, said the goal is to make patients feel better, but that sometimes that is more complicated than most cases. For those patients, Bianco said their treatment process can be frustrating which is why he is focused on this area of research in his work.
