Thursday, June 17th, 2010 An interesting conversation ensued during a monthly breast conference last week. As usual, the case was presented, a woman in her late 80’s, who presented with a lump in her breast and a suspicious mammogram. After the usual testing of ultrasound, MRI, CT and biopsy it was confirmed that she had breast cancer.

 Colleen O'Leary, RN, MSN, AOCNS Colleen O'Leary, RN, MSN, AOCNS, is a oncology clinical nurse specialist at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. She was the recipient of a Compassionate Care Award in the Cancer Program at NMH in 2006, and has helped lead a new orientation program for new nursing graduates. Colleen also initiated the Schwartz Center Rounds in the hospital, a monthly program that allows caregivers to talk about the psychosocial issues.
