One of the current competitive areas of development within mobile medical technology at the moment is providing HIPAA compliant communication between physicians.
This is not an easy task with numerous regulations and security issues to take into account. Despite this, there have been a number of entrants to this field including Medigram
The latest to join is Mediprocity, a “secure compliant suite for physicians to collaborate, connect and refer patients”.
Mediprocity aims to take advantage of cloud technology to allow patient information to be transferred without the use of a fax machine.
Mediprocity have taken the level of communication a step further by the development of a fully encrypted platform and mobile device system that has a number of API’s for a number of software platforms including EMRs.
One unique point about Mediprocity is that it has built in software to allow the referral of patients to other specialists using Mediprocity. While iMedicalApps has not tested this functionality, it certainly appears promising if it works as advertised.
