Cardiac resynchronization therapy device

St. Jude Medical’s Epic™ HF and Atlas® HF cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (CRT-Ds) have received Food and Drug Administration approval to offer ventricle-to-ventricle (V-V) timing. The added feature allows physicians to adjust the delay between ventricular outputs and choose which chamber is paced first for patients who do not respond to simultaneous biventricular pacing systems. The Epic HF is the world’s smallest high-voltage CRT-D (30 joules of energy), designed to make implantation easier while improving patient comfort. The Atlas HF has identical functionality but delivers 36 joules of energy. St. Jude Medical is the first to bring programmable V-V timing in high-voltage CRT-D to the US market.
