Diabetes Dialogue: Updates in Diabetes Management at ADCES, with Jennifer Clements, PharmD

The Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) 2022 annual meeting was a showcase of the latest clinically applicable advances in diabetes management. With more than 2500 attendees, the meeting’s focus ranged from diabetes technology to therapeutics and even clinical process. Among the more than 100 sessions occurring across the 4-day conference, were a trio of sessions led by Jennifer Clements, PharmD, clinical professor and director of pharmacy education at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.

During her time at the meeting, Clements was the primary presenter for a trio of sessions focus on U-500 insulin in the inpatient setting, treatment and prevention strategies for hypoglycemia, and clinical implications for SGLT2 inhibitors in chronic kidney disease for patients with diabetes. Clements also participated in other roles, either as a co-presenter or moderator, on a pair of sessions related to mental health support and using virtual reality to educate about psychosocial issues in diabetes.

In this edition of Diabetes Dialogue: Therapeutics, Technology, & Real-World Perspectives, which was filmed on-site at ADCES 22, hosts Diana Isaacs, PharmD, and Natalie Bellini, DNP, sat down with Clements following her sessions to discuss her work, her upcoming research interests, and ongoing trends in the field of diabetes management.
