Technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in hepatology in recent years particularly in the diagnosis of conditions like pancreatic cancer. Even still these advances can still make the diagnosis process a challenge, especially when explaining these conditions to patients and finding the best treatment methods.

Technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in hepatology in recent years particularly in the diagnosis of conditions like pancreatic cancer. Even still these advances can still make the diagnosis process a challenge, especially when explaining these conditions to patients and finding the best treatment methods.

Specializing in hepatobiliary surgery Douglas P. Slakey, from Tulane University said doctors now have the ability to treat conditions with much less invasive surgeries than were remotely possible just a few years ago. Slakey said much like other parts of the medical field Tulane is using a team approach to these conditions which can help expedite the patient's recovery period and ensure they are getting the best care possible leading up to and after surgery.
