For a chronic condition like heart failure there are many factors that can help decide the effectiveness of their care. A recent debate looked at whether low salt diet would help in that effort.

Javed Butler, MD, MBA, MPH, from Stony Brook University took part in a debate on this topic during the American College of Cardiology's 65th Annual Scientific Sessions and Expo in Chicago. While not a popular belief in the field Butler said he did not believe a low salt diet was beneficial for this patient population but was also careful to point out that a high salt diet was also not a good treatment option.
