Physician Recruiting App

Article

New app allows doctors who are swamped by recruiter calls to take the job search process into their own hands.

The methods of recruiting doctors are changing so that even an app can help you search for jobs. A new app is available for the iPhone and iPad from Merritt Hawkins, which gives physicians and other health professionals access to job opportunities, as well as other information, such as physician income and physician demographic.

According to Merritt Hawkins’ president Mark Smith, the app represents a break-through in the way physicians can search for new practices and stay on top of physician compensation, supply, and related trends.

“Due to the national doctor shortage, physicians are the targets of a tsunami of recruiting activity,” Smith said in a statement.

Information can be divided into medical specialty and geography. Physicians can also see how many other doctors there are in a specialty, how many are board certified and how many are U.S. trained.

A similar app for the Android Market is currently in development.
