Retirement Is One-Third of Your Life

In the first third of your life, you put in years of hard work to prepare for your second phase: Your career. It's equally important to plan ahead for the final third: Your retirement years.

You can look at your life in three stages. The first stage is when you grew up, went to school, and went through training. Right now, you’re in the second stage, your career stage. The next stage will be your retirement stage, and it’ll be here sooner than you think.

During your schooling and training stage you planned and prepared for your career stage. You put in the effort and, along with help from your parents, teachers, and mentors, you entered the successful career stage of your life.

Now that you’re in the career stage of your life, it’s up to you to plan for the retirement stage. Generally speaking, this planning and preparation for retirement is all up to you to succeed. So if you need help, get it now. Let me ask you a question… How much effort did you put into your schooling and training stage to have a successful career? Let’s be honest, most people spend more time planning a vacation than they do planning for retirement.

Let me ask you another question… If you put in more effort to preparing for your retirement stage, would you be better prepared? You didn’t just magically stumble into a successful career did you? No. You worked very hard so you career would be what it is today.

So how do you prepare and get help to plan for a successful retirement? Just as before, you put in some effort, but it is absolutely worth it. This time you learn how to make your money work hard for you. The more it works for you, the more it grows, so keep your money safe. Avoid risk, because if you lose your money, it can no longer work for you. Be careful when people ask you to put your money at risk.

Remember, you’re the one who pays the price when that risk goes bad.

I’ll close with good news, you will have two more workers helping you. They’re called time and compound interest. When you keep your money safe, time and compound interest are able to go to work and do their job. Together you will make your money grow more than you ever imagined.
