More Americans are looking for cost estimates upfront and providers can improve patient satisfaction by taking the time to provide the appropriate tools, according to Dave Wojczynski, senior vice president at TransUnion Healthcare.

"The first thing providers can do is take an appreciation and have a greater awareness for how the billing process itself is affecting patient satisfaction," he says. "Two, go out and get some tools and bring some of this transparency and begin to have this dialogue with patients, because they're looking for it."
