Diagnosing peripheral artery disease (PAD) can be a simple process if doctors know what they are looking for and patients follow medical directions.

Working at the UC Davis Vascular Center, Misty D. Humphries, MD, MAS, RPVI, said a considerable amount of their efforts are focused on treating this condition. By the time many of their patients have reached the center Humphries said critical limb ischemia is a difficult challenge to tackle. Humphries called it the "extreme" end of the spectrum for PAD.
