Ketamine is not a new tool in the arsenal of pain medication but doctors are finding new ways to use it in order to provide relief for patients. As an infusion ketamine is being used to treat chronic pain syndromes.

Ketamine is not a new tool in the arsenal of pain medication but doctors are finding new ways to use it in order to provide relief for patients. As an infusion ketamine is being used to treat chronic pain syndromes.

Having been introduced in the 1950's John M. Stamatos, MD, from Northwell Health, said the use of ketamine has varied over the decades but it is seeing more usage in recent years. Stamatos said ketamine can help a patient's brain to function better without the problems caused by chronic pain interfering in their regular lives.
