After years of hearing they need to exercise and lose weight some patients can lose the purpose of the message and the potential benefits that come with it.

Brandee L. Waite, MD, from the UC Davis Health System said it is important to keep patients engaged in the conversation and show them ways they can help their own health by taking small steps which can go a long way in helping their overall quality of life. Waite said especially in the begining patients do not need intense exercise programs but can instead start slowly and build their way up in hopes of having better results in the end.
