Unlike many other diseases Alzheimer's has a unique impact not only on patients but loved ones who see the changes it can cause more than the people it affects directly.

Having treated the disease for many years Charles S. DeCarli, MD, from UC Davis Health System said he has seen a lot of progress in helping to educate not only the patients about the condition but also their caregivers and loved ones. DeCarli credited the Alzheimer's Assocation for helping to improve the education of caregivers and helping them cope with the various aspects of helping people with the disease and other forms of dementia. DeCarli also said with so much progress being made in diagnosis in recent years he believes the future of treating Alzheimer's is also looking brigther than it did in the past.
