Food allergies are an ever growing concern for doctors in a wide range of specialties and now there are new conditions for them to consider when looking to make a proper diagnosis.

John Kelso, MD, from the Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley discussed this condition during the American College of Phyisicans Internal Medicine meeting in Boston. Kelso said many patients are referred to allergists from gastroenterologists, sometimes after experiencing symptoms for months or even years. Treatments can include corticosteroids which can be swallowed by patients which coats their esophagus.
