Much like civilians, military veterans have trouble maintaining safe levels with warfarin treatment. A recent study looked at how to improve treatment for veterans being treated for nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.

Lizheng Shi, PhD, from Tulane University, discussed how best to treat these patients during the American Heart Assocation's Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA. Shi said the veterans involved ranged from the Vietnam and Korean War times to those recently discharged from service.
