Cataracts are one of the most common diagnosis in eye care but there is still work being done to help treat the condition in the most effective way possible.

Houmam Araj, PhD, from the National Eye Institute discussed some of the recent developments in this field during the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in Seattle. With a focus on funding research to treat blinding diseases Araj said cataracts affect close to 20 million people making it a high priority to treat in the field.
