While cataracts may be one of the most common conditions being treated the National Eye Institute is also looking at ways to treat other less commonly seen issues as well.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Houmam Araj, PhD, from the National Eye Institute discussed other conditions that are being looked at in the field beyond cataracts. Araj said it is important to find new ways to research this conditions to help find new treatments even just through "basic research."
