Using Imaging to Help Treat Difficult Epilepsy Cases: Marvin Rossi from Rush University Medical Center

There are currently close to three million people in the United States with epilepsy. Of that total, close 500,000 are classified as medication resistant. Work is underway to help bring that number down and help more people with the condition.

Marvin A. Rossi, MD, PhD, from Rush University Medical Center, discussed progress being made in this field during a recent interview with MD Magazine. Rossi, who has been involved in research for epilepsy for close to 30 years, said that while a lot of progress has been made in pharmaceutical and surgical options in recent years, there is still much more work to be done. In order to do that, he said more needs to be learned about the condition so that new treatment options can be found.
