For many years research of alzheimer's disease was stuck on the role of amyloids in the condition. That discussion has shifted rapidly recently and continues to develop going forward.

Rudolph Tanzi, PhD, from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School said the "past couple years," have made progress beyond where research has been for several decades. Improvements in research have included moving beyond mouse trials and growing the condition in gels meant to recreate the human brain.
