Best in Class: 2013 New York Auto Show

The New York Auto Show rolled into town at the beginning of April, full of splashy concept cars, exotic cars and luxury vehicles. The 1 million-plus people who filled the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City from March 29 to April 7 saw the superhero-inspired charity cars from Kia and first look at new models from Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz and Subaru.

The completely street-legal 2014 SRT Viper TA is full of upgrades to improve performance on racetracks. The bright orange paint job is available on just 33 units, initially. According to Car and Driver, the car will be released later in 2013 and its pricing should fall around $116,000.

More affordable (but still expensive) cars, like what you might find on a car dealership lot, are also prevalent at the Auto Show. The red Audi RS 5 Cabriolet will run you $77,900.

The blue Audi R8 V10 Plus starts at a whopping $114,900 and can go up to $179,645.

Acura showcased its new concept NSX supercar. The car isn’t expected to hit showrooms until 2015 and will be set up to enable electric- or gas-only driving. This is the second version of the NSX concept, which was first unveiled at last year’s car show. Although there’s no set price, Acura has said it will cost more than the Nissan GT-R, which starts around $100,000.

The Mercedes Benz AMG GT SLS is priced at more than $200,000.

Cordoned off from the crowds, exotic cars always garner massive attention from attendees. This Bugatti Veyron was the 2008 model, which at the time sold for $1.85 million.

The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 starts at $202,000. The Gallardo is the company’s most-produced model.
