You can tell a lot about a person by the way they walk, the way they sit, and the way they conduct themselves in general. Recent research has also shown that signs of potential health issues can be seen when watching a person move.

Difficulty walking can sometimes be a sign that a patient could develop dementia later in life as well as other motion problems. John Nutt, MD, from the Oregon Health & Science University discussed what these can mean during the 67th annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology in Washington DC.

Nutt said that while issues can develop later in life, patients can also work to stay in good health as they get older by taking simple steps when they are younger. Exercise classes now focus on ways to maintain proper balance and gait as can activies like yoga and pilates.
