Future Opportunities for AI Integration

Simon D. Murray, MD: Well, Dr. Daimler, we talked about a lot of different things. What do you see for the future of medical care and AI specifically?

Eric Daimler, PhD, MS: I see incremental improvements coming. I see fantastic things happening with the innovations in data integration, with the ability to bring more data to analysis. I see incremental improvements in medical robotics that are beginning to have real big effects. And the terrific things about these little things we wear on our bodies, I think that’s going to bring us into the conversation more about us taking ownership of our healthcare. I’m really encouraged about the possibility of professionals in the healthcare system participating in the discussion around AI, they have a lot to say and they have a rich body of experience because of the analogies I see between the healthcare system and an AI system, to contribute to a conversation about what are the appropriate guidelines for AI in our society?

SM: I think with your unique background I think you’re in a perfect position to help guide us along those lines. I learned a lot, it was very helpful.
