There is no longer any question about the health risks associated with smoking. What remains to be found is what is the best way to help people who have started to smoke to quit.

While it is difficult to show just how much of an impact Chantix has had in helping people to quit smoking overall, Larry Samuels, of Pfizer said there is evidence that has been a viable option since its approval 10 years ago. When the medication was first approved Samuels said there was a spike in its usage which has dropped over time. He hoped that with the results of the EAGLES trial there would be more questions answered which would encourage more people to try this medication and other smoking cessation options.
