Major Sebastian Schnellbacher from Joint Base Lewis-McChord: Using Art Therapy as Part of a Team Approach

In a team approach to medicine there can be a variety of specialties included in helping improve a patient's overall well being. In some places art therapy is being included in this approach.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in Atlanta, Maj. Sebastian R. Schnellbacher, DO, stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord said art therapists have brought a unique perspective to the treatment of patients on the base. While the doctors may eventually learn the same information from patients eventually Schnellbacher said by taking a different look at the situation they are able to gain more information quicker using a different medical skill set.
