Prominent political expert and media figure to join leading publication for campaign professionals
Plainsboro, NJ, August 16, 2010—Nationally known political commentator and campaign expert Costas Panagopoulos, PhD, has joined Campaigns & Elections as Executive Editor. In this role, Panagopoulos will lead editorial development at the magazine and help build the brand through representation at industry events and media appearances, beginning immediately with development of the September issue.
Panagopoulos is also Assistant Professor of Political Science at Fordham University, where he founded and directs the Master’s program in Elections and Campaign Management and the Center for Electoral Politics and Democracy. He has authored over 30 scholarly articles, co-authored (with Joshua Schank) All Roads Lead to Congress: The $300 Billion Fight Over Highway Funding, and edited two book volumes, most recently, Politicking Online: The Transformation of Election Campaign Communications.
Panagopoulos, who was a candidate for the Massachusetts State Legislature earlier in his career, comments frequently on politics in leading national and international news media outlets and has appeared on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox and BBC. He was previously a contributing editor to Campaigns & Elections and has written for a wide range of consumer outlets including politico.com. Panagopoulos earned his PhD in Politics at New York University and his undergraduate degree in Government from Harvard University.

In addition to his campaign, academic, and media experience, Panagopoulos has developed professional specializations in the marketing, media and public relations industries. He worked for top domestic and international clients—including the United Nations Association—as a member of the Public Affairs and Crisis Management units at Burson-Marsteller, the world’s largest public relations firm. He previously served as Features Editor at AdWeek magazine, where he analyzed the political advertising of the 1996 presidential campaign. He subsequently held positions at Hearst, Condé Nast, and Miramax.
