People are living well into their 70's and beyond, and as a result the medical community as a whole is being asked to tackle new challenges. This is especially true for nursing homes where patients can require a variety of care on a given day.

Kathleen Unroe, MD, and investigator with the Regenstrief Institute and an associate professor at Indiana University said that while most people would prefer to stay at home, when that no longer is an option they look for sompelace that feels like home as their next location. Unroe said this is particularly true for patients with advanced demntia who have even more care needs than others.
