As the diabetes epidemic continues there are always new treatments being developed. For doctors treating the condition there are many questions to be answered including which therapies work best for their individual patients

At the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association in New Orleans, Peter P. Stein, MD, from Merck, discussed some of the results his company presented at the meeting showing how their therapy options have helped patients in a variety of areas. While for some patients diet and exercise are sufficient, Stein said some patients are able to have better control with only one medication while others showed better results with a combination of different therapies without significant safety concerns.
