The family of Mickey Mantle recentlyheld a New York City auction to sellsome of the memorabilia of the NewYork Yankees' Hall-of-Famer. The showwas expected to pull in more than $5 million,with the top bid at $275,000 for his1957 American League MVP trophy. Afew other ordinary items sold brought insome loot, including $1600 for hisCommerce, Okla, bankbook, $6500 forhis American Express Gold Card,$13,000 for eight of his canceled checks,and $10,000 for his old Texas driver'slicense. The most Mantle ever earned in asingle season was $100,000, which hemade from 1963 to 1968.
