You can stop callsfrom some nonprofit organizations byregistering your phone number on theDirect Marketing Association's mail, telephone,and e-mail preference service(www.dmaconsumer.org). A phone callto the credit bureaus' opt-out number(888-567-8688) can also block those pre-approvedcredit card offers from clutteringup your mailbox.
