Real Estate Jargon

Tip:

When you're reading real estate ads,an interpreter can be a big help. Acronymslike "AEK" (all-electric kitchen) or"CAC" (central air conditioning) can bedaunting, but it's the code words thatcan create real confusion. Does "cozy"mean a small house or a tiny one?"Charming" can mean many differentthings, but it usually means the house isolder and may need some "TLC"(another code word for a house thatneeds a lot of work). "Convenient" maymean just that, or it may mean that thehouse is on a high-traffic street or tooclose to the center of town. Deleteall the adjectives from a real estate adand you're left with the really importantfacts—location, size, and price.
