The 57th Annual Scientific Session, held March 29 through April 1, 2008, brings together nearly 30,000 attendees from around the world to share best practices and learn about exciting innovations in cardiovascular science and education.

The 57th Annual Scientific Session, held March 29 through April 1, 2008, brings together nearly 30,000 attendees—including physicians, scientists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and more from around the world to share best practices and learn about exciting innovations in cardiovascular science and education.

ACC.08 offers featured abstract presentations for every topic track and a variety of educational formats to fit your learning style. Plus you'll enjoy more diverse faculty than ever before.

Medical students and trainees, technicians, dietitians, administrators and other health care professionals also benefit from the educational sessions and interaction with their cardiovascular colleagues. All registrants will be enriched through comprehensive programming, stimulating discussions and the Exposition.

An example of some of the sessions offered at today's portion of the ACC.08 include the following:

Women cardiologists who are members of the College are invited to attend Women in Cardiology Section events during ACC.08. The Women's section will hold its annual meeting where information on current and planned initiatives focused on professional development, mentoring, and networking will be available. Women cardiologist members of the College who are interested in joining the Section are also welcome to attend. Following the Section meeting there will be a reception in honor of new female F.A.C.C.s. The reception will provide an opportunity to meet and welcome the College's newest female F.A.C.C.s as well as provide more time for informal networking and discussion.

Meet the ExpertThrough the Labyrinth: The Truth About How Women Become Leaders

Please join the Women in Cardiology Committee for a Meet the Expert Session led by Professor Alice Eagly, co-author of “Through the Labyrinth: The Truth About How Women Become Leaders”. In the continuing discussion of gender and leadership Professor Eagley research provides an alternative metaphor to the glass ceiling. Be one of the first to attend and receive a copy of her book, sponsored by the Women in Cardiology Committee. (Published by Harvard Business School Press.)

This is an excellent opportunity to network with other women who share some of the same interests and challenges as they relate to mentoring, personal and family issues, career choices and participation in leadership in your practice/institution and in the ACC. There will also be opportunity to get more involved with the Women’s Section by learning more about and supporting one of its four programs; Mentoring, Visiting Professor Program, Networking, and Outreach.
