Treating epilepsy is a difficult issue in most if not all cases. However, it is even more difficult for medical refractory epilepsy, according to Kia Shahlaie, MD, PhD, from the UC Davis Health System. Once the diagnosis is made he said a thorough evaluation is undertaken to find the best surgical options on a case by case basis. In some cases, if the seizure comes from just one part of the brain, a cure for the condition is possible.
