As more states across the country legalize marijuana in a variety of forms the usefulness of cannabinoids as a treatment method for people with neuropathic pain remains a question that many studies have explored.

J. Michael Bostwick, MD, from the Mayo Clinic discussed some of the recent research on the topic and how it can move forward as the discussion on the benefits of medical marijuana continues. Bostwick noted that because marijuana is still not legal at the federal level it makes the prescribing of cannabinoids more complicated for doctors even though the ultimate benefits of this treatment option have not been definitively confirmed.
