Annual medical conferences are as good a time as any to reconnect with peers, review the latest data and trends in a field, and set plans for a prosperous future.

Those sort of interactions are not exclusive to the sessions and poster halls.

In the first live recording of Lungcast, former guest Anne Dixon, MD, director of pulmonary and critical care medicine at University of Vermont and chair of the American Lung Association (ALA) Scientific Advisory Committee, returns to talk on the floor at the American Thoracic Society (ATS) 2023 International Conference in Washington, DC.

Dixon joins Albert Rizzo, MD, chief medical officer of the ALA, for an exchange on topics from ATS 2023, including the increasingly understood interplay between obesity and asthma severity.

They then reflected on the status of a series of ALA grant and funded research programs, including the Airways Clinical Research Centers program—the largest not-for-profit network of asthma and COPD clinical research centers in the US.

Lungcast is a monthly respiratory health podcast series from the ALA produced by HCPLive.
