In many hospitals there is a consistent effort to monitor how patients are responding to various treatments. This can be done at different increments which can determine in some cases how effective treatments are against pathogens which can affect a patients' health.

In many hospitals there is a consistent effort to monitor how patients are responding to various treatments. This can be done at different increments which can determine in some cases how effective treatments are against pathogens which can affect a patients' health.

Speaking at the annual IDWeek meeting in New Orleans, Thomas M. File Jr., from Summa Health said hospitals do not have a uniform way of monitoring antibiograms, which can be a good way of telling how effective they are at keeping their patients safe from various pathogens. While some only monitor results on a yearly basis, File said his system's reporting can be found right on their computer screens while treating patients on a daily basis.
