The days of patients with plaque psoriasis being treated with tar and special lights are fading as new agents, especially oral agents, are being developed.

Laura Korb Ferris, MD, PhD, from UPMC discussed some of these new treatments during a recent interview with MDMagazine. Because these new treatments are more targeted and because there are more oral agents as opposed to injections Ferris said patients are much happier using them. The newer treatments also help provide more of a gap between the time patients need to see their doctors.
