UW Integrative Medicine Director, David Rakel, MD, discusses non-pharmaceutical means of treating hypertension, including lifestyle influences (nutrition and nutritional supplements, and mind-body therapy), with the goal of creating lifestyle changes that will help reduce both the sympathetic tone of a patient's blood vessels and their blood pressure, in order to make them less dependent on pharmaceuticals for this purpose.
