A government study released July 15 reveals a 400% increase in substance abuse admissions for patients misusing or abusing prescription pain drugs.

A government study released today reveals a 400% increase in the number of substance abuse admissions for patients misusing or abusing prescription pain relievers.

The study recorded prescription drug use in people age 12 and older, male and female, and across gender, race, ethnicity, education and employment level, and US regional spectrums. The numbers demonstrate that prescription drug-abuse is the second-most prevalent form of illicit drug use in the country.
